Are you replacing an existing security system?
Do you have any indoor pets?

Does any pet weigh more than 40 lbs?

FAQ
You may have a higher risk of false motion sensor alarms if you have several indoor pets (like cats or dogs), and their combined weight is greater than 40 lbs. We recommend using a combination of door/window sensors and glass break sensors instead of motion sensors to protect your home.
Our motion sensors use infrared to detect human heat signatures in their field of view. When your Cove system is armed in "Away" mode, an alarm will be triggered if an intruder approaches the motion sensor.

How many outside doors do you have?
FAQ
If there's a possibility that your door could be broken open from the outside, we recommend installing a door sensor.
Each door sensor has two pieces—a sensor and a magnet. When the magnet is separated from the sensor, your security system will announce that the door sensor is "open." When the magnet and sensor are closer together, the system registers the door sensor as "closed."
Door sensors should be installed on the inside of your doors, with one piece on the door frame, and one on the door.

How many Motion Detectors do you need?
Motion sensors have a 90° field of view and detect motion up to 45 feet away, One sensor in a central location may be all you need.
FAQ
Our motion sensors use infrared to detect human heat signatures in their field of view. When your Cove system is armed in "Away" mode, an alarm will be triggered if an intruder approaches the motion sensor.

How many ground level or easy access windows do you have?
FAQ
No, you don't need to install a window sensor on any windows that cannot be opened. Instead, use a glass break detector near these windows.

Each window sensor has two pieces—a sensor and a magnet. When the magnet is separated from the sensor, your security system will announce that the window sensor is "open." When the magnet and sensor are closer together, the system registers the window sensor as "closed."
Window sensors should be installed on the inside of your ground-floor windows, with one piece on the frame, and one piece on the window.
No, window sensors do not detect when windows are smashed. Another type of sensor, called a glass break sensor, is required to detect the sound of breaking glass.
How many Key Fobs would you like?
Customers love them for conveniently arming and disarming their system.
FAQ
The key fob uses radio signals to arm or disarm your security system, as long as you are within 300 feet of the hub.

We recommend getting a key fob for at least each adult who lives in your home and must be able to arm and disarm the security system regularly.
While the key fob does include a panic button feature for emergency police dispatch, it is not intended to be used as a medical alert device.

Some insurance companies give discounts for having fire and/or water leak monitoring
FAQ
Unlike traditional non-monitored smoke detectors, our smoke detector automatically alerts you and our 24/7 professional monitoring team in the event of a fire. Our smoke detectors are always armed and testing your home for smoke, even if the rest of your security system is disarmed.
Our smoke detector uses advanced algorithms and a sophisticated photoelectric optical sensor to improve the detection of smoke particles created by some synthetic materials when they burn, helping the smoke detector to distinguish between normal cooking smoke and synthetic burning.

A smoke detector can detect smoke from a fire well before a fire becomes visible. This early warning can increase survival chances and property protection in a fire. Having a smoke detector that is monitored by Cove's monitoring stations can increase emergency response time.

- • Bedrooms
- • Hallways
- • Recreation Rooms
- • Basement
Because our smoke detector measures the smoke particles in the air, we recommend NOT installing it near air vents or windows.
You should purchase a smoke detector for each bedroom and living area with a door. You should also have at least one sensor per floor and one sensor in all hallways dividing sleeping areas from living areas.
A water leak detector can be placed near pipes and appliances to detect small amounts of water from leaks. It also senses freezing temperatures that could lead to burst pipes.

Even one inch of standing water can cause thousands of dollars worth of damage to your home. Catching leaks early can minimize the damage and save you a significant amount of money. As a bonus, many homeowners insurance companies offer discounts for monitored flood detection.
- • Behind toilets
- • Under sinks
- • Under a fridge
- • Beside or behind a washing machine
- • Near a water heater
- • In a basement
We recommend purchasing at least one sensor per room with appliances or pipes that may leak (e.g. laundry room, kitchen, bathroom).
Which cameras would you like with your system?
FAQ
While all three cameras require 2.4 gHz wifi to be viewed via our Cove Connect app, they each have different power sources. The indoor camera is plugged into an outlet, the doorbell camera can be hardwired using your existing doorbell wires or using a rechargeable battery, and the outdoor camera uses a solar panel to recharge its battery.
The cameras connect to the Cove Connect app through your home's 2.4 gHz wifi. The live footage and recordings triggered by motion or sound can be viewed through the app.
